El Toro Chargers

El Toro is an interesting story. 16 miles east of Long Beach, a syncopated drumming section and moderately large marching band was formed in 1976. The El Toro Chargers’ band Director Mr. Hansen, consulted with Marvin Marker on how to build a “prize winning band”. Hansen brought over several LBJCB drummers, including Larry Muszinsky, to train the drummers. An 18 man drummer section was pulled together performing mostly LBJCB cadences, and powered a band of over 80 students. We are not sure how many years the syncopated section was used at El Toro, perhaps only a couple of years.
